At EMDAD, we are proud to serve as a trusted resource and advocate for low-income families, immigrants, and newcomers. Through strategic partnerships and community-driven programs, we continue to expand our impact across critical areas of need: To begin with, in partnership with the IRS, EMDAD successfully launched the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Through VITA, we provided free tax preparation to low-income individuals and families, ensured access to eligible tax credits and refunds while promoting compliance with federal and state tax regulations. In the 2025 tax season, we served over 200 individuals and households, furthering our commitment to financial stability and economic empowerment. In addition, in 2025, EMDAD partnered with the Afghan Coalition Nonprofit to provide ecanomic empowerment for individuals and businesses, cultural and language support, and access to essential resources for newcomers. This initiative plays a vital role in easing the cultural transition process specifically for Afghan newcomers, fostering a stronger sense of belonging and self-sufficiency within their new communities. Furthermore, recognizing the importance of education in breaking cycles of poverty, EMDAD is actively developing programs to provide mentorship, vocational training, and digital literacy. These efforts are designed to expand educational and job opportunities for underserved individuals, equipping them with the skills needed for long-term personal and professional success. As part of our continued efforts, to better serve the growing needs of newcomers, EMDAD is in the process of obtaining Accredited Representative licenses from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ. This accreditation will allow us to offer qualified immigration legal services to underserved individuals.
